This 4th we decided to join my family in good ol' Caliente, NV. My grandma and grandpa Taylor live up there and every 4th of July the whole town celebrates starting with dynamite going off in the wee hours of morning to announce breakfast at the park. Then there's a parade down "main street" and then a bunch of games at the park for the kids. The afternoon is filled up with baseball games and swimming, then at night everyone brings out their blankets and chairs to watch the fantastic firework show in the park...this is what "usually" happens. This year was a little different. We decided we didn't want to wake up early for breakfast so we headed up to Caliente Friday morning. By the time we arrived the parade was over and the games in the park were in progress. This year all the cousins were either too young (Sadie and Sam) or too "old" for the games so we ended up hanging out at my grandparents house most of the day and had a barbeque that night. It was nice to hang out and catch up with some of our cousins that we haven't seen in awhile. The firework show this year was a little bit short, but they had some really good fireworks. Sadie was mesmerized by them, I just sat and watched her face and that made it a wonderful firework show! Here's some pics of Sadie and Sam from that weekend.

That sounds like fun. I LOVE fireworks, but I think te census is still out as far as Ethnie is concerned. It is great that Sadie likes them.
Just wait...it gets more and more fun to watch them discover new things! Carter is now fun to take places, and his reactions are so funny.
we were there too! actually we were in panaca, but we went to caliente for the parade. we were too lazy to drive back for the firewroks so it makes me feel better that it was a short show and we didn't miss much. Do your grandparents live in Caliente?
I love her smile. Sadie and her cousin look like they're already best buds.
How cute are they... We really should meet up for lunch sometime now that I'm back in town. I'd love to see you and catch up. We're almost unpacked so we should plan to do something sometime. I'd love to see your little one, She is adorable.
my family has a house and a lot of property in panaca and i have family there so we go over there quite a bit, plus its not that far of a drive from st george. its nice to get away and relax because there is nothing else to do there!
